12.4.18, Long Night of Research 2018, April 13th

Our doctoral program on RNA Biology, together with three other FWF-funded doctoral programs on Chromosome Dynamics, Integrative Structural Biology and Signaling Mechanisms in Cellular Homeostasis, participates in the biggest research-related event across Austria: the Long Night of Research. On Friday, 13th April 2018, numerous national research institutions will be opening their doors to the public.

At the venue Campus Altes AKH of the Universtiy of Vienna, more than a dozen PhD students of the above mentioned four FWF-doctoral programs will give visitors insights into their research. Find out more here and here. Visit us and try extracting DNA from strawberries and raspberries, examine worms, ciliates and tardigrades under the microscope and stain cells from your oral mucosa. There will be a quiz and a 3D model of an RNA molecule will be demonstrated.

At the venue Vienna BioCenter, the RNA Biology group of Andrea Barta from MFPL together with Open Science will host the interactive “Gene Puzzle” station, demonstrating the process of alternative splicing of RNA.
