8.10.19, Julia Batki received the Kirsten Peter Rabitsch Award 2019

After her PhD graduation earlier this year, now Julia Batki from the Brennecke Lab at IMBA was awarded the Kirsten Peter Rabitsch Award 2019 for being this year’s most promising PhD alumna from the IMP or IMBA. Congratulations to Julia!

The award, given jointly by the Rabitsch family and the IMP and endowed with 2.000 Euro, was presented at the joint IMP-IMBA Annual Recess. It is selected by the Scientific Advisory Board evaluating the PhD work of all graduates of the VBC PhD Programme who did their research at a lab at the IMP or IMBA and completed their PhD in the previous year. Julia conducted her PhD studies in the Brennecke Lab at IMBA and successfully defended her PhD thesis “Nuclear small RNA-guided silencing of transposable elements in Drosophila melanogaster“ last March. Her PhD work was recently published in Nature Structural & Molecular Biology: DOI 10.1038/s41594-019-0270-6.
