On 17th October 2012 we had the chance to dine with Nobel Laureates from the RNA World. The RNA Biology DK/SFB organized a dinner for the students and post docs with Elizabeth Blackburn and Thomas Steitz at the Vestibül. The dinner and the discussions were excellent. Alternative splicing (AS) is a key regulatory mechanism that contributes to transcriptome and proteome diversity. As very few genome-wide studies analyzing AS in plants are available, we have performed high-throughput sequencing of a normalized cDNA library which resulted in a high coverage transcriptome map of Arabidopsis.
